Partnership between PROMAX and SENA in Colombia

Since last June 22 until July 3, PROMAX is collaborating with the National Learning Service (SENA) of Colombia to provide training to all their branches around the country in the following subjects: Transfer of knowledge and certification in RITEL, DVB-T2, transmission, FTTH, digital head-ends and IPTV.

This time all the telecommunications offices in the country have met in the city of Medellin.

Thanks to the requirements of RITEL regulations, they ensure available access of consumers to services of different operators such as radio, television, Internet, satellite, etc.

Training telecommunications installers: the experience of PROMAX

Only in the first half of 2015, about a thousand installers have learned to splice optical fibre and to certify with their measurement equipment thanks to PROMAX free courses. Most of them were installers of copper-pair networks who wished to be updated in order to install fibre optics.

This experience in training courses has been appreciated by the Colombian institutions. Now, we use all this experience gained over more than 50 years to work with the SENA and promote RITEL among telecommunications workers of Colombia.

What is RITEL?

The RITEL regulations (Internal Networks for Telecommunications) collect a set of rules and specifications that internal telecommunication networks in buildings have to meet. By means of compliance with the rules of RITEL, these networks can offer telecommunications and television services from any operator and ensures that the signal quality will allow the proper provision of services.

This regulation is promoted by the Commission for Communications Regulation of Colombia and is mandatory as of January 20, 2015 in all new buildings under the horizontal property regime.

The RITEL regulations could be considered equivalent to the Spanish ICT regulations, which establishes the parameters of quality for the telecommunications networks in buildings and the equipment needed to certify installations.
